Jamison Elder
Jamison is a young worship leader from St. Augustine Florida. Jamison began leading worship during high school in youth ministry at Anastasia Baptist Church. He went on to lead worship in college at Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) at the University of Central Florida and at Discovery Church in Orlando. Jamison answered his call to full time vocational ministry in the later years of his college career. Jamison graduated from UCF in May 2012 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Soon after, God brought him to Cross Road Community Church as our Worship Leader. Jamison has been serving with us full time as our Worship Leader and office administrator since August 2012. Jamison would like to thank his church family for their love and support throughout his ministry here at Cross Road Community Church. Jamison is the son of Dr. David Elder, Traditional Worship Pastor at Anastasia Baptist Church in St. Augustine, and Marcia Elder. Jamison thanks his parents for the godly house he was brought up in and the love, support and wisdom they have shown him growing up and in ministry.
Jamison's views on worship:
"We, along with all other created things, were designed for the purpose of worshiping and glorifying God. Our very being is designed for worship. It is what we do. It is who we are. Our natural state is worship and we will spend our lives worshiping something, whether it be money, power, people or God. It is not our choice IF we worship, we can’t help worshiping something, it is our choice WHO or WHAT we worship. God, our Creator, Sustainer, Lover, Healer, Comforter, Strength, Hope, Savior, Lord, and King, desires and deserves our worship. As believers we worship in response to this truth and in response to the love He has shown us. Worship is the expression of our heart’s response to God. This expression includes the way we live, how we act towards others and through artistic expression. Worship is not exclusively music but, as believers, our music and everything we do should be worship (Col 3:17). All things done for the glory of God and by His power are worship.
God created music for His glory and designed it to appeal to us and help us express our thoughts and emotions. There is a special connection to music within all of us. The Bible commands us over and over to sing to the Lord and praise His name (1 Chronicles 16:23, Psalm 13:6, Psalm 106:1). This is why we sing in worship services, the songs reflect the desire of our hearts to worship our God. With music as our worship offering, as with any offering, we should strive to bring our very best to Him. This means striving for excellence, not to impress people, but because God delights in our worship and deserves our very best."
